But the hero of India's wrestling campaign in Tokyo 2020 was Ravi Kumar Dahiya. He flew under the radar even as Bajrang and Vinesh Phogat grabbed all the spotlight but he became the only 2nd Indian wrestler to reach an Olympic final. His semifinal match was worth appreciation. How he pinned his opponent even when the opponent was biting his hand will be spoken in stories for years.
Ravi Kumar lost the final and bagged a Silver in the Men's 57kg freestyle.
BRONZE 🥉
It was the Indian women who were helping take care of the medal tally as Pusarla Venkata Sindhu or simply, PV Sindhu, the Rio Olympic silver medalist, put behind the disappointment of losing the semi-final to World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying to finish with a bronze medal. Sindhu showcased a lot of grit to beat China's He Bingjiao to win bronze. PV Sindhu became the first Indian female athlete to win 2 silver medals in the Olympic games. She did it with pure dedication and hard work. She has much more to conquer and we want her to touch new heights.
BRONZE 🥉
Even as some of the big names in boxing crashed out, 23-year-old Lovlina Borgohain from Assam assured India of a medal after reaching the semi-final of Women's Welterweight event. India's highly-rated wrestler Bajrang Punia won the Men's 65kg Freestyle Bronze, taking India's tally to 6. The 27-year-old might have lost the opportunity to win gold but he took home bronze with a fine display. Bajrang Punia is one of the best wrestlers in India and the world. He has won many Gold medals for India in various events. This time he brought home the Bronze Medal for India in Tokyo Olympics.
BRONZE 🥉
On the other hand, the hockey teams kept India's flag flying high with an inspirational show. Indian men ended the country's 41-year-long wait for an Olympic medal in hockey by taking the bronze on August 5, beating Germany in the Bronze medal match. Indian Hockey team created history by winning a medal in Olympics after 40 years of wait. Also, it was the first time India qualified for Hockey Semifinal. Indian Hockey Women team is also worth appreciation for their efforts and they also qualified for Semifinals for the first time ever.
